PLANM CEO Pledges 10 Billion KRW Donation to Alma Mater, Kyonggi University
(SEOUL = Newsis) – Kyonggi University announced on the 2nd that Lee Min-gyu, CEO of PLANM Co., Ltd.—an eco-friendly modular system manufacturer—held a development fund agreement ceremony at the university’s seminar room. CEO Lee pledged a total donation of 10 billion KRW, including both cash and in-kind contributions.
Under this agreement, PLANM will construct an eco-friendly space on campus accessible to all students. In recognition of the donation, Kyonggi University decided to name the building the "PLANM Center." Once completed, the university plans to utilize the facility as a research and lecture building. In addition to the fund agreement, PLANM also signed an industry-academic cooperation MOU on the same day.
This donation was made possible through the decision of CEO Lee Min-gyu, an alumnus of the Kyonggi University Class of '95 (Department of Russian Studies).
Founded in April 2020, PLANM is an eco-friendly modular manufacturing startup. Despite its relatively short history, the company boasts a remarkable track record, having constructed eco-friendly school modules for 2,100 rooms (equivalent to 1,550 classrooms) across 17 cities and provinces nationwide last year alone.
With the company showing rapid growth—expecting orders to reach 300 billion KRW this year—CEO Lee decided on this "generous donation" to his alma mater. He explained that since the Ministry of Education’s budget and support played a significant role in the company's ultra-fast growth, he chose to create a meaningful space within the educational field and at his former university.
"As the company grows, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the development of my alma mater," said CEO Lee. "After communicating with our employees, we gladly decided to make this donation. As the company’s revenue continues to increase, we plan to expand our donation amounts accordingly."
The President of Kyonggi University expressed his gratitude, stating, "During the presidential election, I promised to secure 10 billion KRW in donations during my term. I am thankful to PLANM for helping me achieve this goal. I expect the 'PLANM Center' to become one of the most outstanding architectural landmarks found on any university campus."
