Bird's-eye View of PLANM’s Northam MMC Project
Selected for the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) Feasibility Study Support Program Transferring K-Modular Excellence at an Australian Vocational Training Center
PLANM, an eco-friendly modular design-build specialist, has entered a full-scale commercialization phase as its Northam MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) Project in Australia was selected for the Feasibility Study (F/S) Support Program by the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND). PLANM and the Australian developer Jubilee Modular (hereinafter "Jubilee") had already been conducting independent preliminary feasibility studies—including business structuring, technical reviews, and financing plans—and recognized the critical need for a KIND-supported study that meets international Public-Private Partnership (PPP) standards.
Through this support program, KIND will play a key role in ensuring the objectivity and credibility required for overseas PPP projects by conducting ▲market research, ▲legal reviews, ▲technical validations, and ▲financial analyses for PLANM’s Australian project. This will serve as the core foundation for the final F/S to be submitted to the Australian government.
The Northam MMC Project is Australia’s first modular-based integrated education and manufacturing PPP initiative, involving the creation of a ▲modular vocational training center, ▲student dormitory, and ▲modular manufacturing and logistics complex (MMC Park). With a total project value of up to approximately 180 billion KRW, it is cited as the largest overseas project ever undertaken by a Korean modular company.
In preparation for the Northam MMC Project, PLANM underwent a rigorous evaluation by Alda, an Australian construction technology review body, in 2024. The review verified PLANM’s production system and its compliance with Australian building codes, officially securing the technical and quality requirements necessary for export to Australia.
Phase 1 of the Northam MMC Project—the modular vocational training center and student dormitory—is being pushed forward with a target completion date in the first half of 2027.
Lee Min-kyu, CEO of PLANM, stated that they are also developing a curriculum to directly transfer PLANM’s steel modular technology and production methods at the local Australian vocational training center. This will mark the first instance of exporting the excellence of K-Modular technology to Australia through education.
Following the L7 Hotel project in Indiana, USA, in 2024, PLANM continues to actively pursue global expansion into the Australian market.
