The Chungbuk Regional Office of SMEs and Startups (Director Noh Jin-sang) announced that it held the 2025 Preliminary Unicorn certificate presentation ceremony on the 22nd at the headquarters of PLANM (CEO Lee Min-gyu), which was recently designated as a Preliminary Unicorn company. The event was attended by Jung Dae-young, Regional Manager of the Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KIBO) Chungcheong Office, the institution providing special guarantees for the program.
The Preliminary Unicorn program identifies companies that possess proven market validation, high growth potential, and innovation, selecting those with the greatest likelihood of evolving into global unicorns that lead the world market. Since 2019, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups has designated and supported such promising companies annually. Out of 15 companies selected nationwide for 2025, PLANM was the only company from the Chungbuk region to be honored with this title.
Established in 2020, PLANM is a specialist in eco-friendly modular construction. The company designs and manufactures structural modules utilized in a wide range of sectors, including schools, military housing, mobile medical units, public rental housing, and smart farms. Companies selected as Preliminary Unicorns receive intensive scale-up support to accelerate their growth into full-fledged unicorns, including a special guarantee of up to 20 billion KRW from the Korea Technology Finance Corporation and follow-up assistance such as global consulting.
Director Noh Jin-sang remarked, "PLANM is a representative innovative company of Chungbuk, and we expect this designation to serve as a springboard for the company to make a significant leap into the global market. The Chungbuk Regional Office of SMEs and Startups will continue to expand tailored, on-site support to foster corporate growth."
