[Metro News] PLANM has commenced the joint development of a standard modular design system for the United States.
On the 26th, PLANM announced that it has signed a Strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Forge Craft Architecture + Design, a Texas-based architectural firm, to develop and execute joint modular construction projects across the United States.
The core of this agreement is the joint development of a U.S.-standard modular design system that can be repeatedly applied to residential, hotel, and healthcare modular sectors, as well as the data center field.
The two companies plan to establish an integrated Korea-U.S. design-delivery package. By applying the DfMA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) method—which integrates manufacturing processes from the early design stages—they aim to simultaneously minimize design changes, reduce costs, and shorten construction periods.
The agreement marks the first step in exporting and localizing Korea’s modular manufacturing capabilities for the U.S. market. Starting with the Indiana hotel project currently being pursued by PLANM, the two companies plan to expand their scope of project orders.
Following this, the modular system will be applied to ongoing projects between the two firms, including universities, large-scale residential developments, and hotels across the U.S. In parallel, they will work on developing a standard modular system applicable nationwide throughout the United States.
PLANM is an eco-friendly modular design-build specialist currently pushing forward with the Lotte Hotel project in Indiana, USA. Forge Craft is an Austin-based architectural firm that operates an in-house modular studio. It holds certifications across multiple U.S. states and possesses robust expertise in steel modular design.
Meanwhile, PLANM is currently conducting large-scale recruitment across all departments to support its diverse range of domestic and international projects.
