
President Yoon Suk Yeol’s state visit to the United Kingdom has paved the way for concrete cooperation in security and economic sectors. In particular, approximately 30 MOUs (Memorandums of Understanding) were signed between companies and institutions across various fields, including clean energy and nuclear power.
The agreements span multiple sectors: 5 in clean energy, 8 in nuclear power, 8 in new industries, 1 in construction/plant, 5 in defense, 1 in finance, 2 in bio-health, and 1 in general technology.
■ Clean Energy & Nuclear Power
In the clean energy sector, Hyosung Heavy Industries signed an ESS (Energy Storage System) supply contract with Verdant Bidoc 2 Limited. GS Caltex, the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association, Hyundai Motor Company, and KyungDong Navien signed agreements for the design and operation of waste plastic pyrolysis plants, mutual cooperation for wind power development, hydrogen fuel cell-battery research, and sales cooperation for domestic boilers, respectively.
In the nuclear power field, organizations including KEPCO KPS, KEPCO NF, KEPCO E&C, KEPCO, KNA, KORAD, and KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School agreed to cooperate on maintenance for new nuclear power plants in the UK, information sharing on radioactive waste management, and student exchange programs.
■ New Industries & Construction
In the new industry sector, companies such as IL Science, 42Maru, 3D Controls, Frontier International, Autonomous a2z, and Seobuk established partnerships for the joint development of silicone optical lenses for vehicles, the application of linguistic AI, joint R&D for finance-specific Hyper-scale AI technology, and strengthening cooperation in the beauty industry.
In the construction sector, PLANM entered into a Design-Build project partnership for the construction of modular vocational training facilities, marking a significant milestone for the industry.
■ Defense, Finance, Bio, and Technology
In the defense sector, Hanwha Aerospace and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) formed alliances for land equipment MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) cooperation, 155mm modular charge supply contracts, partnerships for joint domestic aircraft development, and comprehensive technical cooperation for fighter jets.
In finance, the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation agreed to cooperate on joint support for infrastructure projects. In the bio-health sector, Lemonex signed an agreement for the commercialization of mRNA-DegradaBALL vaccines in Europe, while DC Medical entered into a medical technology sourcing agreement. In the technology sector, the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) signed an MOU for industrial technology cooperation.
