PLANM Co., Ltd. participated in the 6th Steel & Metal Korea (SMK 2021), held at EXCO in Daegu from Wednesday, October 6, to Friday, October 8.
Most existing temporary classrooms in Korea have been constructed using container-style structures, which often lead to issues such as noise, dust, and the leakage of hazardous substances.
To address these problems, PLANM is a company dedicated to creating comfortable and safe future educational environments by applying eco-friendly relocatable modular construction methods to schools.
The school modular solution unveiled at this exhibition is a culmination of advanced technologies developed by PLANM. It focuses on nine key performance areas: ▲seismic resistance, ▲insulation and durability, ▲vibration control, ▲noise reduction, ▲fire resistance, ▲prevention of toxic substances like formaldehyde, ▲fine dust management, and ▲recyclability (including ease of dismantling and relocation).

Recently, PLANM has upgraded its products through intensive R&D, including a collaboration with POSCO to perform detailed pilot manufacturing and analyze/improve the reusability of relocatable modular classrooms.
These modular schools possess structural safety performance that meets the standards of permanent new construction, rather than mere temporary structures. Having verified their structural safety through bearing capacity tests and specialized designs for evacuation and fire resistance, these certified, secure modular buildings provide a safe educational environment for children.
Furthermore, PLANM enables diverse spatial configurations by combining modules according to specific needs and purposes. By arranging various modules—such as general classrooms, stairwells, lobbies, cafeterias, auditoriums, and gymnasiums—in the required locations, the company can provide fully customized, optimized spaces.
Meanwhile, SMK 2021, held under the slogan "A Leap Forward into the Future Basic Materials Industry," was organized to create new demand for steel and metals in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The exhibition featured the following categories: ▲High-functional advanced metals ▲High-functional steel pipes and wire cables ▲Processing facilities and technical equipment ▲Eco-friendly and Safety ▲Post-Pandemic solutions.
