[Herald Business = Reporter Won Ho-yeon] POSCO, in collaboration with EBS, is launching "School-Verse," an on-site metaverse education program for elementary school students nationwide.
On the 20th, POSCO and EBS held the School-Verse launch ceremony at the EBS headquarters in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, with key attendees including Jeong Tak, CEO of POSCO, and Kim Yu-yeol, President of EBS.
The inaugural session will be held over two days from the 23rd to the 24th at Namseong Elementary School in Cheongju for approximately 200 students. The program is scheduled to expand to more than five elementary schools across Chungcheong, Gangwon, and Gyeonggi provinces through the second half of this year.
In October 2021, POSCO and EBS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for "ESG Management Practice and the Establishment of Future Educational Environments." Since then, both parties have explored ways to integrate POSCO’s eco-friendly steel technology with EBS’s 165 immersive educational contents, which were developed as a core focus of EBS's future education business.
For the construction of the School-Verse mobile education center, POSCO utilized its proprietary "INNOVILT" premium steel product solutions.
In particular, the project focused on eco-friendly features by applying POSCO's unique "Smart Housing" modular technology—which is currently being widely adopted in the Green Smart School initiative—along with high-corrosion-resistant "PosMAC" interior and exterior materials. It also incorporated Color Building Integrated Photovoltaics (Color BIPV), a technology co-developed with the Research Institute of Industrial Science & Technology (RIST).
The mobile center features a design reminiscent of a spacecraft set against a blue background—the symbolic color of both companies—and utilizes a specialized door-opening mechanism to spark the interest and imagination of children.

In addition to EBS’s immersive educational content, the "School-Verse" program will actively utilize the "Bungaeman and Eco-friendly Lightning Power" application. This app was co-developed by POSCO and EBS last April to educate students on the eco-friendliness of steel and the importance of resource recycling.
"Since declaring our management philosophy of 'Corporate Citizenship: Building a Better Future Together' in July 2018, POSCO has been at the forefront of practicing ESG management," said Jeong Tak, CEO of POSCO. He added, "As an extension of these efforts, I hope POSCO and EBS will continue to strengthen their close cooperation by leveraging each company's unique strengths and expertise, as seen in this School-Verse program."
