Jeju Education Superintendent Lee Seok-mun visited Inhwa Girls' High School and Jungsan Elementary School in Incheon to explore solutions for overcrowded classrooms. Modular classrooms are primarily being utilized in schools that require immediate relief from overcrowding or are undergoing expansion and renovation. The term "Modular" refers to a construction method where block-shaped "modules"โcombining the main structure of a building with interior and exterior finishesโare prefabricated in a factory and then simply installed on-site.
Inhwa Girls' High School features a two-story modular facility, while Jungsan Elementary School operates a three-story structure. These buildings are equipped with standard classrooms, specialized rooms, restrooms, and staircases. To address overcrowding within the district, the Jeju Provincial Office of Education has allocated funds for modular classroom installation in this yearโs supplementary budget. The office plans to install and operate these modular classrooms in several elementary schools in the Jeju City area starting next year.

Superintendent Lee Seok-mun stated, "By comprehensively reflecting on the safety, effectiveness, and necessary improvements observed in modular classrooms in other regions, we will create the safest and most optimal modular learning environment." He added, "Through our best efforts and supportโincluding the installation of modular classrooms and the establishment of new high schoolsโwe are committed to achieving the appropriate number of students per class."
