PLANM, a company specializing in eco-friendly modular solutions, is participating in KOREA BUILD 2022, the nation’s largest construction exhibition. The event will be held at COEX in Seoul for four days, from Thursday, July 28, to Sunday, July 31.
Previously, most temporary classrooms supplied in Korea were built using container-type structures, which often faced issues such as noise, dust, and the leakage of harmful substances. To address these problems, PLANM applies eco-friendly mobile modular construction methods to schools, striving to create a comfortable and safe environment for future education.
At KOREA BUILD 2022, PLANM will showcase its modular system, which won the Gold Prize at the 2nd Innovative Procurement Contest and was recognized as one of the TOP 10 Innovative Sales Products. PLANM’s modular solutions are developed based on nine key performance indicators: seismic resistance, insulation and durability, vibration, noise, fire resistance and prevention, eco-friendly materials, fine dust management, recyclability, and ease of maintenance.
Furthermore, PLANM has consistently upgraded its technology through ongoing R&D collaborations with POSCO and Ajou University. These efforts include detailed pilot production and reusability analysis of mobile modular classrooms to improve their overall performance and sustainability.
PLANM offers rapid modular manufacturing and a simplified on-site installation process through its Eumseong factory, the largest dedicated school modular production facility in Korea. Since the interior finishes are completed at the factory, no additional construction stages are required on-site. By pre-manufacturing products in a controlled factory environment, the company significantly reduces the construction period and enables an effective response to needs through easy disassembly and relocation.
A PLANM official stated, "Installing a mobile school modular unit takes as little as two weeks. Since they are pre-fabricated and delivered, there are no environmental hazards like the noise and dust typically found at construction sites. Furthermore, they secure performance levels comparable to newly built permanent schools, meeting structural safety, fire resistance, and fire prevention standards." The official added, "Specifically, our mobile modular schools provide a safe learning space with level 7 seismic resistance." Currently, PLANM provides various types of modules for versatile space utilization. The official further explained, "We provide 2-module and 3-module types tailored to site conditions and user requirements. Through various modules—including lobbies, stairs, restrooms, cafeterias, auditoriums, and gyms—we can place the right module in the necessary location to customize the optimal space."
Meanwhile, KOREA BUILD is Korea's representative exhibition for architecture, construction, and interior design, hosted by Messe Esang. Further details can be found on the official KOREA BUILD website.
