(Sejong = News1) Reporter Lee Kang = The government will diversify the construction order-receiving structure, which has been heavily focused on the Middle East and plant sectors, into new markets and eco-friendly/digital fields, and will work to resolve difficulties faced by companies entering overseas markets, such as local certifications, feasibility studies, and policy finance.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that the Export Plus Support Group held a 'Global Orders Plus Meeting' at the Export-Import Bank of Korea on the 23rd to discuss order-receiving conditions in the Middle East and measures to diversify overseas construction orders for Korean companies.
In particular, the focus was placed on breaking away from the traditional Middle East- and plant-oriented order-receiving structure to discuss plans for discovering new markets outside the Middle East and expanding entry into promising future fields such as eco-friendly and digital, while listening to the on-site difficulties of related companies.
Five companies participating in major fields such as Korean-style smart infrastructure construction and operation, new industries, and overseas investment development projects attended this meeting, including LG CNS (data centers), Incheon International Airport Corporation (airports), Woojin Industrial Systems (railways), SD traffic (intelligent transport systems), and PLANM (modular construction).
The companies shared global order trends and core competitiveness by sector, and requested increased support for feasibility studies and local certifications required in the process of entering overseas markets. In addition, they suggested strengthening government-to-government (G2G) cooperation, overseas policy advisory programs, and expanding financial procurement support such as loans, guarantees, and insurance.
The meeting was also attended by order support organizations and policy finance institutions, including Yoo Beop-min, deputy head of the Export Plus Support Group, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK), the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Support Corporation (KIND), the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), and the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-SURE).
Deputy Head Yoo stated, "Beyond traditional order-receiving territories, promising future fields combined with eco-friendly and digital innovative technologies will become a new high-value-added order-receiving model for South Korea to lead the global market," adding, "We will closely cooperate with related organizations and activate a regular support system to organically link various order support measures, such as providing information and feasibility studies, with life cycle financial support programs of policy finance institutions to lead to actual order-receiving achievements."
